We as a class did not do much on the first
lesson of creative programming as it was mainly to deal with the admin matters
such as setting class, group and individual expectations. After that, our
teacher introduced to us what is creative programming and taught us different
ways in which we interact with computers. Not to mention, he taught us what it
is like to be creative with computers.
Next, we were tasked to download Scratch, a
programming application, and create a Scratch account. We were then left to
explore and familiarize Scratch ourselves for the rest of our S&K (skills
and knowledge) period.
I had so much fun looking at the different
sprites (characters) in Scratch and trying to learn on my own to get them to
move. Though it was not easy, I had help from my classmates and finally got my
sprite to move. Judging by the first day, I am excited to know what I am going
to learn about creative programming and can't wait for the next lesson. I
believe that creative programming might be beneficial in the long run hence, I
will try my best to pick up this new skill.
At the end of the lesson, our teacher let us off with a question to answer: What do you envision Singapore to be like as a smart
nation when you turn 21?
Honestly, I have no idea what Singapore will look like in 7 years time. Things come and go. There is no saying what Singapore will look like when I turn 21.
In my opinion, I think that Singapore will be a safe country but with stressed-out people. People will be robots and be on their phone 24/7, not interacting with one another across the table. Looking at it in a political way, the value of our Singapore dollar will increase. $10 now might be $50. Things in Singapore will try to keep ahead and things will get more expensive.
Or maybe it will look like future worlds depicted in movies and cartoons where there is flying cars and spaceships are normal for people to have. Money will be replaced by leaves as the world is running out of trees. People will dressed super awkwardly keeping up with the new dress-code trend.
Or maybe, things will remain just the way it is.
What will the future look like? Who knows what the future will look like? And with that, I end my blog.
